💬 Biography
Dr. Seijo obtained his B.A. from Columbia College in 1990 and MD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1995, followed by a PhD from the Universidad de Navarra in 2015. His research interests include lung cancer screening, biomarkers of early stage lung cancer, artificial intelligence, metabolomics, and biomarkers in COPD, sleep disordered breathing, and lung cancer. He participates in the SOLACE lung cancer screening consortium and the SPACETIME consortium funded by the EU. He coordinated the CIBERES lung cancer strategy for 2016-2018 in Spain and thoracic oncology for the Spanish thoracic society (SEPAR) between 2021 and 2023. He is co-coordinator of the Spanish national lung cancer screening pilot known as CASSANDRA and principal investigator in Spain for the Pamplona iELCAP lung cancer screening investigator site. He is the current director of the pulmonary medicine department of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra.

The presentation will focus on the current evidence supporting the use of biomarkers as complementary to early lung cancer detection. It will discuss current challenges and opportunities en route to clinical implementation.
