Presentation
Two billion people worldwide smoke. The stats are grim: 25% of smokers never make it to retirement age. On average, they die 10 years earlier and spend their final decade battling chronic illnesses.
Quitting? It’s incredibly tough. Only 5% of smokers succeed when they try, and it’s no surprise—most started as teenagers, with brains shaped by nicotine dependence.
Switching to e-cigarettes can support quitting, but what do we really know about vaping? What about its serious societal side effects especially for youths? And as doctors, how should we approach this? What’s our responsibility?
